Raku Fossil Bowl
13”W x 11 ½”H
This bowl was was formed in a personally thrown bisque mold and the base was thrown on the wheel. The fossil imagery was inspired by fossils found in my childhood. After the bowl was fired in the bisque kiln and cooled, I applied special glazes before it was raku fired. The colors and the crackle are dependent on the amount of oxygen granted during the raku firing and cooling. My glaze recipes are all my own, which to me, makes the work more personal and more intimate.
