This raku landscape tile that was built by hand and fired using the raku pottery firing process. The landscape depicted, as with most of my raku wall pieces, was inspired from views from my home/studio. This raku pottery tile is wired and ready to hang.

All of my raku tiles are cut to the desired size individually from 3/8" thick slabs of clay. After drying, the tiles are bisque fired standing upright in the kiln. Then I lay it out and draw the pattern on them with a pencil. Using the pattern as a guide, I then apply underglazes and proprietary glazes in the desired areas. The glazes are either sprayed, poured and/or painted on each of my raku pottery pieces. All of my raku glaze recipes were created myself, making the work more intimate and personal.
