(New) Sun Landscape #1
12" W x 12”H
This unique raku landscape tile was hand built and then fired using the raku pottery firing process. The landscapes featured in these tiles, as with most of my raku wall pieces, were inspired by my views from my home studio in the Blue Ridge Mountains near Asheville, NC This raku tile is wired and ready to hang either way.
My pottery tiles are typically cut individually into a square from 3/8" thick slabs of clay. Once they are dried, the tiles are bisque fired standing upright in the kiln. I then draw the pattern on them with a pencil. Using this pattern as a guide, I will apply underglazes and proprietary glazes in the desired areas. These proprietary glazes are either sprayed, poured and/or painted on each of my raku pottery piece. Making my raku glaze recipes myself makes the work more intimate and personal.
