This unique raku landscape platter was hand built and then fired using the raku pottery firing process. The landscape featured in this Platter, as with most of my raku wall pieces, were inspired by my views from my home studio in the Blue Ridge Mountains near Asheville, NC. This raku platter is wired and ready to hang. Also it can be display on a stand or lay flat on 4 feet.

My platters are typically cut from a 3/8" thick slab of clay. Once they are dried, the tiles are bisque fired standing upright in the kiln. I then draw the pattern on them with a pencil. Using this pattern as a guide, I will apply underglazes and proprietary glazes in the desired areas. These proprietary glazes are either sprayed, poured and/or painted on. I create all of my raku glaze recipes which makes the work more intimate and personal.
