This globe was thrown on the potter’s wheel and when leather hard it as trimmed upside down. After drying, it was bisque fired. It was then glazed with layered proprietary glazes and raku fired. After it cooled, it was abraded with a hand grinder to remove the thin shell, revealing the blue and copper surface. It was then water sealed with liquid silicone.

Most of the pottery that I make is thrown on the wheel.  I created my own set of recipes which makes the work even more personal.  One thing I love is to be constantly looking for new forms and glazes to create.  Once created, the glazes are sprayed, poured and/or painted on the pieces until I am happy with the combination of colors and textures.
