Winged Vessel #3
16”W x 5”D x 16”H
Each raku sculpture is either thrown or created on the potter's wheel or hand built. I develop all of my glaze recipes, which to me makes the work more personal and more intimate. The glazes and underglazes are then sprayed, poured and/or painted on the pieces.
The metallics that I use most ofte in my glazes are copper, silver, cobalt and chrome. Once they are sprayed, poured or painted on the raku pottery, they melt in the firing and leave some spectacular results. I may also use my glazes to intensify the fundamental design or surface of the piece. The colors of the glaze and the crackle are dependent on the amount of reduction allowed during the raku firing and cooling.
Please see here for more of my raku sculpture.
