Vance Knob Vista
8"H x 16"W
This one-of-a-kind raku pottery vessel was developed at my home studio in Weaverville, NC. The vibrant reds and yellows are contrasted against golden and bluish hues. The cracks, and textures are results of the proprietary raku glazes that I use. There is something very personal and intimate creating pottery with my own glazes. The reds, yellows, blues and purples that you see were dependent on the amount of oxygen allowed during the raku firing and cooling. My unique glaze combinations and raku firing techniques make each ceramic piece completely different from the rest.
Most of my raku work is either thrown on the wheel and altered or built by hand. This particular raku pottery piece was first created on the potter's wheel and shaped before it was fired in the kiln and cooled. Various proprietary glazes were then sprayed, poured and/or painted on the piece before it was raku fired.
