Tall Winged Raku Vessel
6"D x 15"W x 16"H
This colorful raku sculpture was thrown on the wheel and altered. Torn slabs of clay were then added creating the colorful top. After the vessel is bisque fired, the colors come out from a number of glazes and underglazes applied to the surface. Once I find the glazes that work best, the raku pottery piece is fired using the American raku process.
This unique raku pottery sculpture was hand built using the raku firing process. Please see here for more of my available raku sculptures. I develop all of my glaze recipes myself, which to me makes the work more personal and more intimate. The glazes are then sprayed, poured and/or painted on the pieces. As with all of my raku pottery, no two pieces are alike!
