Space Rock Ovoid
11"W x 7.5"H
This decorative raku piece is part of my space rock ovoid series. This particular piece was thrown on the potter’s wheel and altered. I use proprietary glazes to develop the reflective properties and "space rock" textures that you see. I spray, pour and/or paint these special glazes until I am pleased with the final result.
My raku glaze recipes include a mix of certain metallics including copper, silver, cobalt and chrome. The metallics melt in the firing and leave some truly spectacular results. If I want to adjust the basic design or texture of the piece, certain glazes are painted, poured or sprayed on the raku pottery . The colors of the glaze and the crackle are dependent on the amount of reduction allowed during the raku firing and cooling.
Each raku pottery vessel that I create is unique and no two pieces are alike. I am continually adding new work to my online store so please check back here periodically for more of my raku pottery vessels.
