Space Rock Ovoid
11"W x 7.5"H
I use copper, silver, cobalt and chrome in my glazes to give my raku pottery the most abundant “space rock” features. As these metals melt in the firing, they leave some incredible results. I may also use the glazes to strengthen the underlying design or texture of my raku pottery. The colors of the glaze and the crackle depend on the amount of reduction allowed during the raku firing and cooling.
This decorative raku pottery vessel is part of my space rock ovoid series. This particular piece was thrown on the potter’s wheel and altered. To adjust the basic design or texture of each piece, certain glazes are painted, poured or sprayed on the raku pottery .
Each raku pottery vessel that I create is unique and no two pieces are alike. I am continually adding new work to my online store so please check back here periodically for more of my raku pottery vessels.
