(New) Space Rock Cobalt Ovoid
8"H x 11"W
This is one of my favorite raku pottery pieces. It was crafted using the American raku process and was first thrown on the potter’s wheel and altered before being fired in the kiln. After it was fired, I applied various proprietary glazes and underglazes. They were sprayed, painted or poured prior to being raku fired. My special glazes enhance the underlying design and texture of the pottery piece. The crackle and design as well as the exquisite blues, greens and golds on this piece are dependent on the amount of oxygen allowed during the raku firing and cooling. As oxygen is reduced, the reaction causes the oxygen to be pulled from the glazes, leaving behind a brilliant mix of beautifully colored raku pottery.
