Raku Bowl 5
5.5"H x 4"D x 5"W
This decorative raku pottery bowl was created on the potter's wheel and altered. Once fired in the kiln and cooled, different glazes were sprayed, poured and/or painted on the piece before it was raku fired. The colors you see on this ceramic bowl are the results of the different glazes used in the raku firing process.
I personally make all of my glaze recipes, which to me makes the work more personal and more intimate. The glazes were used to enhance the underlying design and texture of the piece. The colors of the glaze and the crackle are dependent on the amount of oxygen allowed during the raku firing and cooling.
