Green Winged Vessel #4

8"W x 20.5"L x 8.5"H

All of my winged raku pottery pieces are built using a thrown bisque mold and torn slabs of clay.  Once they are removed from the mold, they are altered.  This particular raku piece sits on a base that is also made from torn pieces of slabs.

The colors come from underglazes and proprietary glazes.  One thing I love is to be constantly looking for new forms and glazes to create.  All of my raku glaze recipes I developed myself, which makes the work more personal and more intimate.  The glazes are then sprayed, poured and/or painted on the pieces until I am happy with the combination of colors and textures.  The body of the raku vessel is epoxied to the base. The body and the base are both raku fired.
